The Springboks have left to take on the Pumas on their own turf in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but they are doing so without the help of star player Victor Matfield.
Matfield will not be accompanying his team mates to Buenos Aires, where they will take on the Pumas for a second time, after he is still recovering from a cartilage tear in his knee.
The very same injury caused the Bulls player to is out on last Saturday’s game against the Puma’s at Loftus Versfeld.
While the Boks did go on to win the game 13 – 6, their line out’s did not seem to be the same without Matfield. However, Lood de Jager, Bakkies Botha and Eben Etzebeth did make up for him.
Matfield was spotted at Loftus yesterday, where he was seen rehabilitating his kneed during training. By the looks of things, it seems that Matfield might only be ready to rejoin the Boks when they leave for Perth to take on the Wallabies in 2 weeks time.
As for this Saturday’s upcoming game against the Pumas, we’re sure that the Boks will still be able to pull of a win, even if they miss Matfield.
It is likely that Lood de Jager will wear the number 5 jersey, with young Eben Etzebeth in the starting line up and Bakkies Botha on the bench.
Even with Matfield (temporarily) out of the picture, we are confident our Boks will show the Pumas how it’s done, once again.
